Beautiful collection of 25 issues of this superb botanical publication. The set comprises issues 1 to 9, 11, 13 to 22 to 30 and is illustrated with 178 superb copper-engraved botanical plates in colour and watercolours after Redouté.
The plants are described by A. P. de Candolle. The covers of issues 7 and 17 are empty. Nissen indicates an edition in 31 issues, from 1799 to 1831, containing between 182 and 188 plates, while Madeleine Pinault Sørenen mentions 28 issues from 1799 to 1803, with 168 or 179 plates.
Covers a little faded, edges of ff. dusty and frayed, rare tears without missing, some foxing, dampness at foot, generally without affecting the design of the plates (some plates more degraded), traces of glue on two covers. One plate cut inside the bowl, some explanatory leaves missing.
