The binding is staggered in register with Jesus Christ and holy personnel. (somewhat rubbed, the spine with cover defects at the head and tail). An anthology of five rare writings on the Reformation and theology of the time. I. VD16 F 870 - Berlin State Library (lost during the war). - II VD16 W 2616 - Very rare treatise on the punishment of sacrileges. Bredenbach (1526-1587) was a Catholic clergyman and theologian. He first became a canon in Antwerp, then moved to Bonn in 1567 and finally to St Gereon's in Cologne, where he moved to take advantage of the proximity to the university for his academic work. In 1569 he was appointed chairman of the ecclesiastical council in Bonn. - III. Only 1 copy traceable worldwide (Radboud University). Not traceable for us in international trade. - Rare work for the preparation of ordinands for the clerical ministry. - IV. VD 16 A 4021 - A very rare work that deals with Protestant doctrine and the function of the parish office. Atrocianus was a humanist and opponent of the Reformation in Basel. - V. VD16 W 2098 - Johannes Wamesius (1524-1590) was a professor in Leuven. Rare polemic against the Lutheran Church. - A few leaves with handwritten Renaissance marginalia. The last two volumes with some spotting and browning in places, otherwise good copies of these rare writings. Indulgence. - Anthology with 5 writings of the Reformation.
