The gilt metal upper dial with white cartouches is flanked by three gilt metal putti holding garlands of flowers amidst clouds, the central sheathed body decorated with a mask of Apollo and foliage, the plinth fitted with tapered legs with acanthus leaf motifs.
Richly decorated with gilt metal on a tortoiseshell and blackened wood base. Mechanical movement with spiral balance and chimes (Westminster Quarters). The lower part opens to a leaf.

Our regulator is a copy of the one given to the workshop of Jean-Henri Riesener which was in the study of Empress Eugénie (1826-1920) in the Tuileries Palace and which is now in the Louvre Museum [Inv. N° OA 5501].
