Reiner Wagner (Born 1942 in Hildesheim. Has lived and worked in Corsica since 1965 and in Ambach on Lake Starnberg since 1969)
"The evening is coming". Original title
A flatly composed, pastel-coloured landscape in the foothills of the Alps with a lonely barn. The painter, who came from a family of musicians, studied from 1961 to 1964 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich under Hermann Kasper and at the Academy of Fine Arts in Berlin under Heinz Trökes. In his abstract landscapes, which are layered in spatial zones, Wagner always depicts his immediate surroundings - both the foothills of the Bavarian Alps and the Bavarian Prealps as well as the Mediterranean West Corsica, which he visited during the summer months. He is concerned with the inwardly reflected overall mood of nature and the only hinted existence of man; his works express depth, poetic stillness, seriousness and loneliness as well as clarity and cheerfulness in a mostly reduced colour palette. Oil/linen and canvas. Signed and dated on verso. (19)95; label with artist's inscr. and title. 24 cm x 30 cm. Frame.
Oil on canvas board (linen painting cardboard). Signed and dated (19)95 on the reverse. Inscribed and titled on a label.
