Rare first edition in Latin of this important illustrated history of Jerusalem before its destruction by the Romans. It is decorated with 43 woodcuts in the text by Virgil Solis depicting scenes from the Old and New Testaments as well as views of towns and monuments and a beautiful double view showing the city before the destruction of the temple. Adam Reisner (1500-1572), a German mystic and poet, was a pupil of Johann Reuchlin, a German humanist and eminent specialist in Greek and Hebrew.
A copy in poor condition, many leaves have frayed edges, sometimes with missing text, the binding is dilapidated. (USTC, 664994).
