Combat Command B (CCB) of the 4th Armoured Division launched a first attack on Chaumont. The fighting was fierce, with heavy losses on both sides. A second attack was carried out by the CCB. This offensive enabled the American troops to advance towards Bastogne, despite fierce German resistance.
