Lot no. 354
[Remacle LELOUP]. SAUMERY. Les Délices du païs de Liège, ou description géographique, topographique et chorographique des monumens sacrés et profanes de cet evêché-principauté et de ses limites. Decorated with a general map and a number of intaglio plates [...] With notes to clarify several facts. Liège, by Everard Kints, 1738 - 1744. Five vol. in-folio (35 x 22), modern binding in slipcase signed Michel Fassin. First edition. 231 plates without the extremely rare view of Spontin, which was added later, but complete with the view of the town of Maastricht and the Mausoleum of Tongeren. Lacks the portrait of Bertholet Flemaël and reverses the portraits of Gerard Lairesse, Jean-Guillaume Carlier and Lambert Lombard in Volume V. Handwritten annotations dated 1819 and 1839 on two sheets pasted together on page 65 of Volume IV: "the author is mistaken in saying that the remains of the Visé bridge can no longer be seen because all fishermen know the remains of the bridge's piers that they see from the bottom of the Meuse...". A fine copy.
