REMBRANDT VAN RIJN Self Portrait with Long, Bushy Hair: Head only. Etching, circa 1631. 65x62 mm; 2x2½ inches, thread margins. Biörklund's fourth state (of 6), after the reduction of the plate; Usticke's fourth state (of 7); White and Boon's fourth state (of 7). Ex-collection Charles Delanglade (Lugt 660, verso). A very good, dark and well-inked impression of this extremely scarce, early etching with strong contrasts. We have found only 4 other impressions at auction in the past 30 years.According to Usticke, "A very rare, small portrait, always delicate, before the heavy rerworking in the late states."
