THE FREEDOM SPARROW: A MESSAGE OF HOPE
This brooch, based on a design by Juliette Moutard, is larger than the other pieces produced by René Boivin. The extra two centimetres in width allow it to be set with heavy blue and pink sapphires.
The blue-white-red of the outstretched wings of this liberated France has been revisited in pastel tones by the Boivin women's team. The symbolism of the bird caged during the Occupation, then breaking free of its cage at the Liberation, was also taken up by Cartier. Let's pay tribute to this act of passive resistance with a piece of jewellery.
