René I QUILLIVIC (1879-1969), "Jeune Bretonne", sculpture in soft stone representing a young Breton woman. Traces of polychromy (notably on the eyes and hair). HT. 44 x 16 cm (with base) Condition: slight damage to the back and soiling, head not fixed on its base, lack of polychromy. Provenance: Former collection of the artist-decorator Maurice Pillard Verneuil, then Adelaïde Verneuil de Marval, then by inheritance. Note: René Quillivic was a French sculptor, engraver and ceramist, a key figure in the Breton artistic renaissance of the early 20th century. His work is deeply rooted in Brittany's cultural identity. Several of his works are held in Breton museums, including the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Quimper.
