Representative Baroque silver centre plate. Oval, slightly recessed mirror and wide, flat rim. In the mirror a scenic depiction of David holding the severed head of Goliath in his hand. The broad banner surrounded by lush baroque flowers and leaves. Marked, tremolier stroke, hallmark, master probably Johann Caspar Wixner I (active ca. 1680), Lviv repunching (1807), tax exemption stamp (1809-1810). Weight approx. 275 g. 28 cm x 25.5 cm. Cf. Rosenberg, vol. III, no. 4602 f. A German Baroque silver sideboard dish probably by Johann Caspar Wixner I (active around 1680). Test, assay and master's mark. Austrian-Hungarian remarks. German. Probably Straubing. Around 1700.
