Representative baroque centrepiece. Silver, partially gilt. Oval, slightly recessed mirror and wide, flat rim. In the mirror a scenic depiction of a putti, handing a basket of flowers to a noble, seated lady. In the background, a wide section of landscape bordered by a curtain with antique architectural elements. The broad banner is surrounded by relief embossed scrollwork with volute and shell decoration over an extremely finely chased ground. Irregular, wavy, pinched, smooth rim. Numbered "488" on the underside. Marked, hallmark, master Johann Valentin Gevers (becomes master 1700), Austrian hallmark (1806-1807) and so-called "Freistempel" (1809-1810). Weight approx. 690 g. 49 cm x 41.5 cm.
