Representative Napoleon III pendulum set, 3 pieces; pendulum and pair of girandoles. Gilt bronze with dark patina in places. Fluted body over a broad base with palmette frieze, flanked by scrolled volutes. Fully sculpted crown in the shape of two putti children as an allegory of summer. Glazed enamel dial, marked Delafontaine. Pendulum movement with pendulum spring and half-hour strike on bell. Pair of 10-flame girandoles. Fully sculpted cupids as supports for strongly curved chandelier arms over a short column shaft. Clock h. 65 cm. 47 cm x 33 cm. Chandelier h. 80 cm. Cf. Tardy, p. 166.
