[RESTIF DE LA BRETONNE (Nicolas-Edme). L'Année des dames nationales; ou histoire, jour-par-jour, d'une femme de France. First edition of this very interesting work for the history of morals during the Revolution. Comprising one volume for each month of the year, this novel of manners brings together nearly six hundred stories, all containing "strange facts likely to provide playwrights with subjects for plays in all genres". A paperback copy with full margins, complete with 31 engravings outside the text, including 12 regional costumes as frontispieces and 19 "situation prints". One of these depicts the execution of Charlotte Corday. Copies complete with all the plates are rare. From the Lacurie cabinet in La Rochelle, with typographical bookplate. Small tears and cracks to the covers, some foxing, a few leaves and engravings detached, angular loss to 2 ff. of the August vol. Monselet, n°37 - Lacroix, xlii - Rives Child, xli/1.
