Lot no. 147
RIMBAUD Arthur (1854-1891). Reliquaire, poésies. Paris, Léon Genonceaux, 1892; in-12, bradel of water-green moiré paper, red parts, cover (P. Goy). First edition published in November 1891. The volume contains 52 poems, 19 of which are unpublished and 4 apocryphal.
Resale copy, after the lawsuit over the preface by Rodolphe Darzens: "in his haste to see the publishing project come to fruition, had the collection printed without submitting the proofs to Darzens. He alone had chosen the title Reliquaire (...). He had finally annoyed him by using as a preface the scattered notes that Darzens intended to put into shape". (Galantaris). The publisher was ordered to seize the 119 copies still in stock, from which the preface and the title page dated 1891 that mentioned it were removed.
