Robert POUGHEON (Paris, 1886 - Neuilly-sur-Seine, 1955) Study for a figure from Les Captives Pen and Indian ink, white highlights on pencil line and stump Without frame 33.0 x 26.0 cm Provenance: Galerie Pierre Gaubert, Paris ; Acquired from the latter by the current owner on 29 March 1988 Our drawing is a study for one of the two figures in the painting Les Captives, which was exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français in 1932, made into a tapestry at the Ecole Nationale d'Aubusson in 1933 and is now in the Musée André Malraux in Le Havre (inv. 76.36). Also included: . Robert POUGHEON, Etude de nu féminin accroupi les bras levés (Study of a crouching female nude with her arms raised), black pencil and stump, set to square, bears the stamp of the Marie-Madeleine Aubrun collection (L.3508) lower right, 32.5 x 25.5 cm, unframed. Provenance : Galerie Coligny, Paris; Acquired from the latter by the current owner in 1999. Our drawing is probably a study for an unfinished composition, of which there is a sketch dated around 1932 in the André Malraux Museum in Le Havre.
