ROBIQUET (Aimé). Atlas hydrographique. Paris, Robiquet, 1851. Broadside (72 x 55 cm), fawn half-basin with corners, red morocco title-piece on first cover, smooth spine decorated (Binding of the period). Monumental atlas of 44 large nautical charts, most of them double-page or folded, engraved on metal and mounted on tabs. These maps depict the coasts of Europe, Asia and Africa on the Atlantic Ocean, the Indian Sea and the Pacific Ocean, the coasts of the United States, the Gulf of Mexico and the West Indies, the coasts of Brazil and Patagonia, the coasts of Chile, Peru, Central America, California, etc., for the use of merchant navy officers, shipowners and marine insurers, announces the engraved title that opens the volume. The copy does not contain charts nos. 20, 30, 43, 46 and 49-54 listed in the Extrait du catalogue des cartes marines by Robiquet (Charts nos. 5 and 11 bis of this catalogue are not included either, but they seem to be cardboard supplements to charts nos. 6 and 11). Binding worn, lack repaired to lower corner of title, small hole not serious to map No. 32, map No. 47 damaged and repaired, three maps foxed.
