In-4 (31 × 22.7 cm), garnet-red morocco, broadly decorated on the boards with multiple frames of gilt fillets and palm motifs in green, brown and brown mosaic morocco, ribbed spine decorated with gilt and mosaic motifs, Empire green morocco lining decorated with a gilt palm border and red silk endpapers, covers and spine preserved, gilt edges, slipcase (Joly fils) . Edition decorated with 33 figures by Georges Rochegrosse, etched by Decisy, including the frontispiece and 24 hors-texts. Limited edition of 500 numbered copies; one of the 25 first editions on large Japon paper or Arches vellum (no. 24, here on Japon), containing 3 states of the etchings and an original watercolour (here missing). "One of the artist's best illustrations, sought after and quoted, especially on large paper" (Carteret). False-title leaf slightly unstuck, original watercolour missing. Otherwise a very fine copy.
