ROMAN BRONZE DISH WITH HAMMERED DETIES.

A bronze Eatern Roman of Gandharan dish formed from a hammered sheet with a broad, shallow wall and a rounded rim, the interior centred by a raised circular medallion in high relief with four standing females. The two central figures nude to the waist with pleated skirts falling from their hips and flanked by two other females in short, flaring skirts, all enclosed within a narrow raised border.

Provenance: From the collection of a London gentleman; formerly acquired in early 2000s in Japan; previously in 1970s Japanese collection.
