ROMAN BRONZE FIGURINE OF A HORSE Ca. AD 1 - 200. A bronze figurine of a horse shown in a prancing stance with the right foreleg raised. Head is turned slightly to the left, with prominent eyes, flared nostrils, and alert ears. A short mane rendered with fine incised grooves runs along the crest of the neck. The body is compact and muscular. The tail curves back and attaches to the base, creating an arched void. Mounted on an integral rectangular plinth with a triple-stepped profile and projecting corners. For similar see: Christie's, Live Auction, 2390 Antiquties, Lot. 122.
