ROMAN BRONZE MACE HEAD

A bronze mace head surmounted by a large pinecone-shaped finial composed of regularly arranged lozenge-shaped projections in raised relief. The interior is hollow, with a socketed core for haft attachment.
Size: 100mm x 45mm; Weight: 190g
Provenance: Private UK collection; previously acquired on the Holland art market in the 1990s.
