ROMAN BRONZE OLPE WITH EAGLE.
Ca. AD 1 - 100. A bronze olpe with a tall body tapering towards a low ring foot and a flaring mouth with a flat rim. A high-arching handle with a raised thumb rest rises from the rim and descends vertically to the shoulder, terminating in a stylised eagle in relief with outstretched wings. Size: 325mm x 200mm; Weight: 1.56kg Provenance: Property of a West London gentleman; previously in a collection formed on the UK/International art market in the 1990s.
