ROMAN BRONZE PHALERA WITH MEDUSA Ca. AD 1 - 100. A circular bronze phalera depicting the head of Medusa in high relief. The face is rounded with full cheeks, a slightly upturned nose, and large, wide-set eyes gazing forward. The mouth is subtly curved, forming a neutral expression. The hair consists of thick, curling locks radiating outward from the forehead, framing the face and extending to the edge of the circular border. Two serpents encircle the lower portion, their bodies forming a continuous loop. The upper edge features three holes for attachment. The appliqué comes in a custom-made presentation box.
