ROMAN CARNELIAN INTAGLIO WITH FEMALE PORTRAIT IN GOLD RING. Ca. Late 2nd century AD. A carnelian intaglio engraved with a female portrait in profile, facing left. The elaborate hairstyle is adorned with a laurel wreath, with braids resting on the shoulders. Facial features are delicately carved, including a straight nose, full lips, and a well-defined chin. The intaglio is set in a gold ring with broad, angular shoulders tapering into a smooth, rounded hoop.
