ROMAN CARNELIAN INTAGLIO WITH RABBIT DRIVING A CART DRAWN BY ROOSTERS IN HIGH KARAT GOLD RING.

AD 50 - 200 A carnelian intaglio engraved with a rabbit driving a two-wheeled cart drawn by a pair of roosters, all on a groundline, set within a plain round gold collet of a possibly later gold ring. The slender hoop is decorated along the outer edge with a beaded band. Size: D:19.35mm / US: 9 1/2 / UK: S 1/2; Weight: 8g. Provenance: Private London collection of an established Mayfair dealer and scholar with over 40 years of experience; previously part of 1970s-1990s UK collection.
