ROMAN GLASS JUG WITH TRAILED DECORATION.

A free-blown pale green glass jug with a globular body formed with a series of rounded recesses above a concave base bearing a pontil mark. The shoulder narrows into a tall cylindrical neck that flares to a broad splayed mouth with a rounded rim, the neck wrapped in closely spaced horizontal trails, and a broad strap handle is applied to the upper body and drawn up in a high arch to join the neck just below the trails.

Provenance: Private London collection; previously acquired from a Belgian collection (1980s-1990s).
