ROMAN GLASS JUG WITH TRAILED DECORATION.

A pale blue free-blown glass jug with a biconical body rising from a low discoid foot, the shoulder narrowing into a tall neck that expands to a wide funnel-shaped mouth with a rounded rim. Fine glass trails are wound in tight horizontal bands around the lower neck and across the exterior of the funnel, and a broad strap handle is applied at the shoulder and drawn up in a high curve to join the rim.

Provenance: Private London collection; previously acquired from a Belgian collection (1980s-1990s).
