ROMAN HIGH KARAT GOLD BULLA EARRINGS WITH GRANULATION Ca. AD 100 - 300. A matched pair of gold earrings, each composed of a hoop formed from three twisted gold wires, tapering at one end to a plain rod with an eye and hook closure. The upper section is fitted with a slightly domed disc ornamented with a central cluster of fine filigree granules. A short, waisted collar beneath the disc supports a descending series of hollow gold spheres arranged in graduated tiers, each decorated with applied pellets.
