ROMAN HIGH KARAT GOLD RING WITH CARNELIAN INTAGLIO DEPICTING NOBLEWOMAN Ca AD 1 - 100 . A carnelian intaglio engraved with a left-facing bust of a noblewoman. Her hair is arranged in a segmented fringe at the forehead and is drawn into a tight bun at the nape. Her facial features are rendered with large, wide-set eyes beneath a defined brow, a prominent and straight nose, rounded cheeks, and a small mouth with gently parted lips. The intaglio is set in a gold ring with a smoothly polished, rounded hoop that thickens gradually towards the oval bezel.
