ROMAN HIGH KARAT GOLD RING WITH CHALCEDONY INTAGLIO DEPICTING APOLLO Ca. AD 200 - 300. A chalcedony intaglio engraved with a left-facing bust of Apollo. The youthful face is shown with large eyes, a straight nose, parted lips and a slightly pointed chin. His hair is rendered in fine, radiating locks, crowned with a laurel wreath. The intaglio is set within a circular bezel of a gold ring with its hoop composed of two twisted gold wires joined at the base and looped at the shoulders to support the bezel.
