ROMAN INTAGLIO DEPICTING FEMALE BUST IN HIGH KARAT GOLD RING Ca. AD 1 - 200 . A dark stone intaglio engraved with a left-facing female bust. Her hair is neatly arranged in parallel rows drawn back from a plaited band encircling the crown. Her facial features include a small nose, a defined chin, and lightly incised lips. The intaglio is set in a gold ring with an oval bezel, framed by triangular side panels pierced with irregularly shaped recesses. The hoop is formed of two joined leaves meeting at the back.
