ROMAN LAPIS LAZULI INTAGLIO DEPICTING SERAPIS IN SILVER RING. Ca. AD 100 - 200. A lapis lazuli intaglio depicting Serapis, set within a silver swivel ring. The intaglio is oval, engraved with a seating figure, draped in a long garment and with a modius on the head. The reverse is unengraved. The ring setting consists of a plain silver frame enclosing the intaglio, secured by two pivoting hinges attached to the hoop formed of two parallel wires.
