ROMAN MARBLE HEAD OF APOLLO Ca. AD 100 - 200 or later. A finely carved marble head of Apollo, depicted with idealised youthful features and an expressive upward gaze. The oval face is gently contoured, with deeply set, almond-shaped eyes beneath softly arched brows, a straight nose, and full lips subtly turned at the corners. The hair is arranged in thick, voluminous locks, parted at the centre and swept back over the temples in deeply drilled strands, gathered into a plaited fillet encircling the crown. Mounted on a modern rectangular base of veined orange marble.
