ROMAN MARBLE HEAD OF EMPEROR Ca. AD 100 - 200 or later. A marble head of an emperor, possibly Caracalla, with tightly curled hair and beard carved in thick, deeply drilled curls framing the face, the brow with a vertical furrow above deeply set, almond-shaped eyes, the gaze slightly upward. The nose straight and prominent, the lips full and pressed together beneath a finely incised moustache. The ears are proportionally set and crisply defined. Mounted on a modern base.
