ROMAN NICOLO INTAGLIO OF CERES WITH EAR OF GRAIN IN GOLD RING.

A nicolo intaglio engraved with the head of Ceres in left profile, the hair arranged in a loose chignon and surmounted by a crown of wheat-sheaves, with a single ear of grain behind and flowing ribbons around the head. The intaglio is set within the bezel of a possibly later gold ring with a raised oval cell framed by a narrow rim, the shoulders decorated with moulded foliate motifs and merging into a solid tapering hoop.
