ROMAN SILVER COCHLEARE SPOON. Ca. 4th - 5th century AD. A silver cochlear spoon with a shallow, oval bowl that has smoothly curved edges extending into a narrow neck, connecting it to the handle. A small scroll-like element is positioned at the junction between the bowl and the shaft. The handle consists of a central cylindrical section flanked by grooved bands and tapers to a sharply pointed tip. Size: 170mm x 25mm; Weight: 60g Provenance: Prince collection, 1990s-2014; Ex.
