ROMAN SILVER DOUBLE BRAIDED SNAKE RING Ca. AD 100 - 300. A silver ring with two snakes intricately coiled around each other, designed in a naturalistic and detailed manner. Each scale is crafted individually, giving the ring a lifelike quality. The two snake heads are raised, and their bodies are intertwined to create a single spiral shape. Size: D:17.73mm / US: 7 1/2 / UK: O 1/2; Weight: 8g. Provenance: Property of a London gallery; previously acquired at the art market in Vienna; formerly in an Austrian collection formed prior to 2000. This piece is accompanied by an authentication statement by Sami Fortune, ancient jewellery specialist.
