ROMAN SILVER PATERA WITH INSCRIBED HANDLE. Ca. AD 100 - 200 A silver patera with a deep bowl rising to a plain rim, set with a flat handle broadening towards the end. The handle springs from the rim with a series of small scalloped projections and is engraved on the upper face with two confronted birds flanking a central spray, and with a Latin inscription reading L·MAR·QVIN. Size: 180mm x 110mm; Weight: 130g. Provenance: Private UK Collection; UK art market, 2000s-2010s; Brian North Lee collection, UK, 1980s; Ex-Collection of Kenzo Takada, France, 1970s.
