ROMAN SILVER RING WITH CARNELIAN INTAGLIO DEPICTING A MAGIC SCENE Ca. AD 50 - 200. An oval carnelian intaglio engraved with a central depiction of an eagle with raised wings, flanked by military standards. Above the bird is the crowned head of the god Salus (the sun god), positioned between a star/sun and a moon symbol. The intaglio is set in an oval bezel of a possibly later silver ring, framed with a narrow gold rim.
