ROMAN TERRACOTTA OIL LAMP WITH LION Ca. AD 100 - 200. A mould-formed earthenware oil lamp with a flat base, a circular body with a recessed tondo, and a protruding wick spout, all covered in dark red-orange slip. Within the tondo is a relief depiction of a roaring lion. For similar see: The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Accession Number: 74.51.1925. Size: 110mm x 80mm; Weight: 80g. Provenance: Private UK collection; acquired on the French market in the 1970s.
