ROMANO-EGYPTIAN GOLD RING SNAKE SHAPED Ca. AD 50 - 200 An Egypto-Roman gold snake ring comprised of a long conical body adorned with incised scales, connected to a raised square head with stamped eyes and scales. Snake jewellery was not limited to Egypt in the Ptolemaic and Roman Periods. Bracelets with animals, including snakes, appeared in Western Asia from about the eighth century BC, and spread to Greece in the fifth century BC and came to Egypt during the Ptolemaic Dynasty.
