ROMANO-EGYPTIAN MOSAIC GLASS CANE WITH ROSETTE.
Ca. 100 BC - AD 100.
A circular mosaic cane with a translucent deep amethyst glass matrix, appearing nearly black. At its centre, an eight-petalled rosette is formed from opaque white glass elements, each petal elongated and tapering towards the middle. The petals are bordered by a thin dark outline, radiating symmetrically from a central core. Reviewed by Simone Musso, consultant curator for Egyptian antiquities at the Stibbert Museum, Florence, Italy, member of the Nuri Archaeological Expedition.
