ROMANO-EGYPTIAN TERRACOTTA GRAPE-SHAPED FLASK WITH THE BUST OF HARPOCRATES Ca. AD 200 - 300. A terracotta flask shaped like a bunch of grapes featuring a bust of Harpocrates-Eros adorned with a headdress. The bust is flanked by two small, open wings. Traces of white plaster suggest that the statuette was painted, as was typical for this period. Size: 175mm x 90mm; Weight: 230g. Provenance: Private UK collection; Ex. M. H. collection, Kensington, acquired on the UK art market in the 1970s. This piece is accompanied by an authentication statement by Simone Musso, consultant curator for Egyptian antiquities at the Stibbert Museum, Florence, Italy, member of the Nuri Archaeological Expedition.
