ROMANO-EGYPTIAN WOODEN FUNERARY PORTRAIT OF NOBLEWOMAN. Ca. AD 100 - 300 A wooden funerary portrait panel painted with the frontal bust of a noblewoman, with large eyes and arched brows, the hair arranged beneath a wreath of leaves in applied gold leaf. She is shown wearing gold earrings and a pendant necklace, and a dark mantle with a narrow coloured band at the neckline. With surface repairs and restoration. Size: 635mm x 295mm; Weight: 1kg. Provenance: Private London collection; previously in a 1990s Dutch Ancient art collection. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
