ROSTAND (Edmond). L'Aiglon. Drama in six acts, in verse. Paris, Charpentier et Fasquelle, 1900. In-8, green morocco, polychrome mosaic medallion in painted morocco with plant decoration showing the profile of a man on the first plate and an eagle on the second, gilt edges, fillets on the edges, interior framing of ten gilt fillets, red morocco lining, raspberry moire endpapers, untrimmed, cover and spine, brown half-chagrin folder (Marius Magnin). First edition, with a frontispiece portrait of Sarah Bernhardt in stage costume by Louise Abbema reproduced in black. The play was first performed at the Sarah Bernhardt Theatre on 15 March 1900. One of 180 copies on japon, with six signed watercolours by Henry Narade and those used to illustrate the binding. Complete with the beautiful cover illustrated by René Lalique.
