ROUSSEAU (Jean-Jacques). Discourse on the origin and foundations of inequality among men. Paris, Amsterdam, Rey, 1755. In-8, marbled calf, smooth spine decorated, marbled edges (Binding of the period). A counterfeit of the original edition published the same year, but without the errata and pasteboards. The engraved frontispiece after Eisen is unsigned and bears the caption: Il retourne chés ses Égaux; on the other hand, the author's first name is spelled Jean Jaques at the end of the dedication and the last page begins with the words -cune différence des méchans, as in the original.
One spine split, light wetness on first few leaves.
