RUMYANTSEV NIKOLAI PETROVICH (1754–1826), Count Autograph letter addressed to Le Clerc, former infantry captain. Paris, December 11, 1808. 1 double leaf, 4°. Address and red wax seal with Count Rumyantsev’s coat of arms on the verso. In French. In the letter, Count Rumyantsev expresses that he will be glad to receive the son of the late Mr Le Clerc. As for the publication mentioned by his correspondent, he considers it utterly alien to his ministry. Count Nikolai Petrovich Rumyantsev (1754-1826) was a prominent statesman of the Russian Empire, head of Russian diplomacy during the Napoleonic Wars, a major patron of the arts, founder of the Rumyantsev Museum. He resided in Paris for four months, from November 1808 to February 1809.
