Lot no. 77
Saab Saab 93, 14/04/1960, 40,287 km. MOT OK Additional photos and papers on request. My name is Saab 93F, nice to meet you. I'm the "Front" version of the 93 and was built between 1959 and 1960. And for all that, I look pretty fit and preserved for my age, don't you think? My atypical design stems from Saab's aviation days. Thanks to its team of aeronautical engineers, they brought me to life with this iconic aerodynamic look. I was the first to be exported directly from Sweden for registration in Belgium. My first registration dates back to 14 April 1960. For some people, that's a long time ago, but I remember it like it was yesterday! Despite my age, I've only clocked up 40,287 km on the odometer, which makes me an exclusive model of my kind, and I was only produced in 600 examples. Perhaps the model I represent rings a bell. In fact, I was exhibited at the Saab Museum in my country of origin because I'm an exact copy of the car driven by the leading driver Eric Carlsson in the 1959 Liege - Sofia rally! Petrol keeps my heart racing with a two-stroke, 3-cylinder longitudinal engine developing 33 bhp from a cubic capacity of 748 cm3. I also have a mechanical 4-speed gearbox that allows me to develop my full potential, with a top speed of 151 km/h. I'm fully equipped for rally racing with an engine preparation from the Saab factory itself. And the icing on the cake is that I'm eligible for the Monte Carlo Rally. But those weren't the only modifications I received: in 1994, for greater comfort, my original seats were replaced by leather Recaro bucket seats with integrated headrests. For better looks, my interior trim was replaced with one that matched my new seats. And finally, for added safety, I'm fitted with rally belts. In 2006, with a view to my use in historic rallies, I returned to the Saab Museum for the fitting of front brake discs, a gearbox and a new Group 2 engine installed by former Saab rally mechanics. I will be delivered to my new owner with my vehicle registration document, my FIVA identity card, an instruction manual and a detailed file explaining the modifications I have received. The Saab 93F I represent today is an integral part of Saab's legendary heritage as an innovative carmaker focused on safety and fluidity, making me an iconic car for classic car enthusiasts like you. Although modest in terms of power by modern standards, I have a reputation for good performance and excellent handling on European roads. If you want to pay tribute to me and my creators who have disappeared from the motoring world, buy me, and help to perpetuate our history so that we can create our own.
