ORIENTAL SABRE OF CHARLES-FERDINAND D'ARTOIS, DUKE OF BERRY (1778 - 1820) Oriental-style gilt bronze and ebony mounting. Fuse in the shape of stick out of squared ebony and pierced with eyelets for the for the strap. Guard with two inverted quillons decoration, standing out from the ellipse-shaped in the shape of an ellipse. Chased on the obverse with the numeral "CF", for Charles Ferdinand under the royal crown. On the reverse a rosette of stylised acanthus leaves leaves. Curved damascus blade with hollow sides, groove and counter-edge. It is engraved and enhanced with an imperial eagle crossed out under a crown. Probably a gift blade or prize blade with symbolic symbolic of its former owner, reassembled by the commissioner. Iron scabbard with three brass fittings. Two ellipse bracelets with the arms of France and trefoils on the reverse (one damaged, see appendix). Long brass cap and openwork roquillard dart. France, circa 1815-20. Total length: 91.5 cm Also included - A gold passementerie strap (faded) and large fringes. - A handwritten document of H. Manière, expert in military curiosities and historical objects in which is described this "sabre describes this "sabre that belonged to the Duc de Berry", mentioning the accident to one of the to one of the two bracelets and the price of the set with a belt. - An old sketch of the sword with its strap.
