DIRECTOIRE MARINE SABRE Bronze and ebony mounting. Rectangular rectangular, hilt with two inverted quillons and scalloped crossbows. Ebony spindle with sides. Strong curved blade with scimitar. Leather scabbard with two brass fittings brass fittings and iron sting. "LT, Laguarde" on the cap. Traces of fighting on the blade. Late 18th, early 19th century. Total length: 65.5 cm Used in a non-regulatory manner or for for the merchant navy, it appears to have been reused by the fire brigade under under Louis Philippe. The production of this type of this type of sword is said to have been made in Bordeaux. We know of one marked with a Phrygian cap.
